Postdoctoral Fellowship at Iowa State University (Pulse Breeding)

A post-doctoral position is available immediately at the Iowa State University to work on a project that focuses on research and breeding of blackgram (Urdbean) and green gram (Mungbean) for the mid-west states of the USA. Specific research focus will be on survey of germplasm, adaptation traits, screening and selection of germplasm, and molecular genetics studies. The PDF will work with breeders, geneticists, pathologists, physiologists and engineers to integrate the latest selection strategies into breeding program, in combination with research efforts. PDF will also participate in soybean research activities at Iowa State University.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Plant Breeding, Plant Genetics, Crop Physiology, Crop Sciences, Agronomy or a related field at the time of appointment.
  • Research experience in Urdbean and/or Mungbean is required.
  • Experience in writing scientific peer reviewed articles.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Fluent in written and oral English.
  • Interest in collaborative initiatives and ability to work well with others.
  • Efficient multi-tasking.
  • Demonstrated creativity and problem solving skills.

This position is open immediately and the initial appointment will be for up to one year. However, subject to funding availability, there is a possibility of annual renewal for up to two more years.
