The Geospatial Laboratory for Soil Informatics (GLSI) specializes in data analysis, geospatial modeling, and soil informatics research. We collaborate with laboratories across Iowa State University, particularly within our department, to conduct high-precision soil property measurements. Our research is powered by state-of-the-art equipment and computing resources, advancing soil science, environmental modeling, and spatial analysis to support sustainable land management and conservation efforts.
Fee-for-Service Offerings
The GLSI provides two fee-for-service options to support soil research and analysis:
- Deep Soil Core Collection – Using a hydraulic Giddings soil probe, we extract high-quality deep soil cores for research, education, and environmental monitoring.
- Particle Size Analysis – Our laser diffractometer provides detailed soil texture analysis, precisely measuring particle size distributions for agronomic, environmental, and geotechnical applications.
These services are available to researchers, educators, and organizations seeking high-quality soil data for land management, conservation, and scientific studies.
